Florida is the
lightning capital of the world. On average
10 people die from lightning strikes in the state
each year. To protect our children the City
has installed a severe weather warning system at
all of the City's parks. Lightning
Warnings
When the ThorGuard Lightning
Prediction System horn sounds, (which will be a
15 second horn blast) the following procedure
shall be followed: Clear all outdoor facilities
of all patrons and outdoor employees. Wait in
your vehicles until the all clear signal sounds
(3 short horn blasts).
** T-Ball & Coach Pitch Instructional
Divisions: wait in your cars for 20 minutes
after the warning horn has sounded. If the all
clear has not sounded after 20 minutes, the
coaches will call the game and advise the
players. (Coaches may agree to continue this game
at either teams next practice)
** Upper Divisions: If the all-clear
warning signal has not been heard in a reasonable
amount of time, it is the UMPIRES decision if and
when the game play will be suspended. It is also
up to the umpires to decided on the reasonable
amount of time that the teams shall wait before
the game is suspended.
