Guidelines for Volunteer Background Checks
Criminal records including Guilty pleas
(regardless of Adjucation),
No Contest Pleas, or Pre-Trail intervention/Diversion.
This is not intended to be a complete
list of all disqualifying offenses.
I. WILL NOT ALLOW TO
VOLUNTEER
·
Extreme Violence
(aggravated assault/ aggravated Battery, Murder, Attempted
Murder)
·
Sexual Offenses
(lewd & lascivious, sexual battery, Rape, sex with a minor)
·
Kidnapping
·
False Imprisonment
·
Child Abuse
·
Arson
·
Pornography
·
Extortion
·
Manslaughter
(excluding vehicular homicide/ Involuntary)
·
Indecent Exposure
(if Sexual in Nature)
·
Currently is on
probation or has a case pending for any of the above offenses.
II. WILL NOT ALLOW TO
VOLUNTEER- if offense
less than 10 years old. Will consider and carefully review if
older than 10 years.
·
Felony drug use
·
Grand theft\ Robbery
·
Burglary
·
Felony Battery/
Assault
·
Felony Possession of
a concealed Weapon
·
Prostitution or
solicitation of prostitution.
·
Grand Larceny
·
Other felonies not
mentioned in section I
·
Currently is on
probation or has a case pending for any of the above offenses.
III. WILL NOT ALLOW TO
VOLUNTEER- if offense
less than 5 years old. Will consider and carefully review if
older than 5 years.

APPEAL PROCESS
Applicants
have the right to request a copy of any criminal history
background report, that is received on them. The applicant is
entitled to challenge the accuracy and completeness of any
information contained in such a report and may obtain prompt
validity of that challenge before any final decision is made
about their status as volunteer.
All Appeals
Shall be requested in writing and addressed to the Coconut Creek
Youth Sports Organizations Association (ISO). The Executive Board
will place the appeal on the agenda of the next regularly
scheduled YSOA meeting. The President of the League that
administered the Background Check will not be able to render a
vote regarding the outcome of the appeal. The individual
requesting the appeal will be required to sign a "Waiver of
Information Release." All decisions of the YSOA are final.
