I don't live in Coconut Creek, can I
play in your League?
Coconut Creek Little League serves the communities of Coconut Creek
& Margate. Little League Regulations require that only players
that reside within a League's
boundaries can participate in that League. The only
exception to this rule if a participant petitions for a written
waiver from Little League headquarters due to hardships or other
claims under Regulation II of the Little League Handbook.
Players who live within the league boundaries and
move out of the area may continue to play in the local League, as
well as any of their siblings, for the remainder of their youth
league career. Any player who qualifies under this
provision and elects not to participate for a playing season is no
longer eligible to be retained for subsequent seasons.
The City of Coconut Creek requires all eligible non-residents to
purchase a Youth Sports Card . Purchase
of a youth Sports Card does excuse a participant from meeting the
League residency
requirements.
Can my child play with his friend or
for a certain coach?
Players in non-competitive Divisions such as Coach Pitch & T-ball
for both Baseball and Softball do not have tryouts and are randomly
selected for teams by that Divisions Coordinator. In these
divisions players may request to be placed with a particular
coach or player. The Division Coordinator will do his best to
honor placement requests, but the league cannot guarantee any
placement requests except for siblings in the same age group.
Please notate any placement requests on players season application
or contact the League Player Agent. Players in competitive divisions - Minor League
and above, in both Baseball & Girl's Softball are required to participate in player evaluations that
will assist team managers in their selections of teams.
Because all players are selected via the draft, no player placement
requests can be honored for these divisions except for same age
siblings.
How
long does the season last?
The League regular season will begin with practices
starting in early February. Games begin in Early March and
continue through mid- May. Exceptional teams and players may
also be asked to participate in District tournaments. The District
Strong team tournaments are held from early to mid June. All
Star Tournaments begin in Early July and potentially run through
mid- August. Registration for our spring season begins in
November.
When will my Child's games & practices
be?
Your child should be advised of their practice schedule
once your contacted by your coach. As a general rule all teams
will have two practices per week prior to the start of games.
One will be on a week night an one on Saturdays.
After games begin players in non-competitive divisions such as
T-ball & Coach Pitch will have one practice and one game a week.
One meeting will be on a week night and one will be on a Saturday,
it varies by availability on whether a game or practice is played on
a Saturday, but once set it should remain that way for the entire
season. Weeknight games and practices can be held any day
between Monday and Friday. Due to the size of these divisions
Saturday games and practices are usually scheduled from 9:00 am to
4:00 pm.
Competitive division teams Minors and above will meet
three times a week once games begin. One Practice during the
week and a game on Saturday and one during the week, weeknight games
are usually played Monday through Thursday. Saturday game
times vary based on the size of the Divisions.
